a native of a u.s. midwestern city that straddles a state line, emma buck has always been drawn to identity and borders, and several degrees and several hemispheres’ worth of travel later, she seeks to tap into something profound about who we are, the stories we tell about ourselves, and what this means for our imagined futures. she does this by examining cultural violence, contextualizing speculative fiction, and writing introspectively about her own experiences.
emma has a b.a. with honors in literary arts from Brown University, an M.A. in Peacebuilding and Conflict Transformation with a focus in Sustainable Development from SIT Graduate Institute, and is applying for PhD programs to begin in the fall, 2017.
